This project was assigned through the residential design studio at Auburn University. The project is to remodel some spaces in a home that belongs to a family named the Lambs. The Lamb Residence is a seven thousand square foot family home located in the Moores Mill Golf Club in Auburn, Alabama. This project scope included renovations to several large portions of the home. With the kitchen and basement, the two main areas touched, the private areas were also included in the project. With some spaces being a complete redesign and others just updated with furniture. The project allowed students to learn the process of space planning within an existing shell.
The intent of this project is to bring the new in with the old. The Lamb’s visions and ideas for their home is the key to turning this house into a home for them. Keeping the Lamb’s staple pieces while updating select spaces will make their home feel more lived in. The use of brighter wood and materials within furniture will be used throughout the home to bring a more updated look. This project will cater to the Lamb’s perspectives and will aim to not only feel more lived in, but to be even more purposeful and personal to all three members of the family than before.
